Chef's Tasting Menu
A curated, multi-course tasting guided by our service team and the kitchen of James Beard Award–winning Chef Joseph Lenn.
AVAILABILITY
The Chef’s Tasting Menu is available Tuesday through Saturday and may be enjoyed at any table throughout the restaurant, including the dining room, patio, and bar.
Guests do not prepay or reserve the Chef’s Tasting separately. Simply make a standard dinner reservation through Resy. The Chef’s Tasting Menu is selected at the table at the start of your reservation.
The Chef’s Tasting will return on Tuesday, March 17, featuring a new seasonal menu and the same thoughtful, wood-fired approach that defines J.C. Holdway. Dinner reservations for that date will open Monday, February 16, at noon.
OVERVIEW
The Chef’s Tasting is a multi-course experience that offers a focused expression of the kitchen at J.C. Holdway. Each menu is crafted using ingredients sourced from local farms, regional purveyors, and Chef Joseph Lenn’s own garden, with every course plated individually and served with care.
For more than eight years, the Chef’s Tasting has been a quiet tradition at J.C. Holdway—a way for the kitchen and service team to share the restaurant’s enduring philosophy: Southern ingredients prepared with refined technique, rooted in place, and guided by the rhythm of the seasons.
This experience is well suited for celebrations, special occasions, or for guests who prefer to place their trust in the kitchen and enjoy the evening as it unfolds.
DIETARIES
The Chef’s Tasting Menu is served as designed. Gluten-free requests can be accommodated. We are unable to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, or allium-free dietary restrictions for the Chef’s Tasting. Guests with additional allergies or dietary considerations should communicate them to their server at the start of the meal so our team may determine feasibility.
DINNER FORMAT
The Chef’s Tasting Menu is enjoyed by the entire table, and participation by all guests is required. The menu is served as designed, with no substitutions, splitting, or sharing between guests.
The full menu is presented to the table at the start of the experience. While the overall structure remains consistent, individual dishes may change based on seasonal availability; for this reason, the Chef’s Tasting Menu is not published online in advance.
Optional supplemental courses and wine pairings will be offered to accompany the tasting menu.
The experience is designed to unfold over approximately 1.5 hours, with pacing guided by the kitchen and service team. Each course is introduced tableside by the service team.
PRICING
The Chef’s Tasting Menu starts at $149 per guest, excluding beverages, tax, and service charge. No deposit is required, as the tasting is selected at the table at the start of your reservation. Optional supplemental courses may be offered during the experience, with pricing shared at the table.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Standard reservation cancellation policies apply. Cancellations made less than 4.0 hours prior to the reservation time are subject to a $25 per person fee.
